No Es Pituko is Chilean slang for "it ain't fancy," and this Cabernet Franc takes the name at its word: an honest, unfussy dry red from a family that has grown grapes in Chile since 1740. Every wine in the No Es Pituko line is made with nothing added. That means wild fermentation, no additives (sulfites included) and bottling unfined and unfiltered. The vines behind the range are rare: ungrafted, pre-phylloxera stock the Echeverría family has farmed outside Molina, in Chile's Curicó Valley, since 1923. Roberto Echeverría Jr. makes the wine from hand-picked fruit. Cabernet Franc often comes with a serious reputation. Here it's a bottle you can open on a weeknight, with real pre-phylloxera pedigree and none of the posturing.

More about Echeverria

A family that's been making wine in Chile since 1750 didn't break stride when they landed in the Curicó Valley in 1923. For decades they were content as bulk producers until 1990, when they decided to bottle their own wine and changed everything. Today they're still family-owned and still making some of the most honest, unfussy wines from the Central Valley.

Tasting Profile

Expect a juicy, medium-bodied Cabernet Franc with red and dark berry fruit, a touch of the grape's classic leafy, peppery herbal edge and the ripeness that Curicó's long, sunny summers bring. Made with nothing added and bottled unfiltered, it typically comes across fresh and a little rustic, with soft, fine tannins, lively acidity and a dry, savoury finish.
