Eight years on the lees, no dosage, and nothing in the bottle but old-vine Meunier from Cuisles. Longue Garde is how Cedric Mousse shows what his flagship becomes with time: the same forty-year-old vines on green clay, sand and limestone that go into the standard Les Vignes de Mon Village, but drawn from the 2014 and 2015 harvests and left undisturbed on their lees for roughly ninety-six months before disgorgement. Fermentation and aging happen in stainless steel with malolactic completed, so the texture and the toasty depth come entirely from that long rest rather than from oak or sugar. Brut nature, which at this stage of maturity reads as savory rather than austere. A fire destroyed the family's winery in the summer of 2026; the Mousses are rebuilding, and this Champagne had long since been made.

"Disgorged in January 2024 without dosage, the NV Blanc de Noirs Les Vignes de Mon Village Longue Garde represents a late release of the Les Vignes de Mon Village, this time matured for eight years sur lattes—considerably longer than the two years typical of the regular bottling. A 50/50 blend of 2014 and 2015, it exhibits a more oxidative profile and less precision, despite its extended aging on the lees. Aromas of clear honey, ripe red apple and almonds rise from the glass. On the palate, it is medium- to full-bodied, taut and incisive, though showing signs of aromatic decline. While it lacks the precision of more recent releases, it may appeal to those who appreciate tertiary character in Champagne." —Kristaps Karklins
