From one of Chambolle-Musigny's most quietly revered addresses, where every wine comes from within the village itself. Francois Bertheau is the fifth generation here, working an estate of roughly six hectares with a famously light touch: minimal racking, very little new oak (around 10% across the cellar), and a hands-off philosophy that lets Chambolle's signature silk speak for itself. This is the village-level red from 2012, a small, frost-and-rain-reduced Burgundy vintage that nonetheless turned out reds of real charm and balance. Now well over a decade old, it's drinking in its mature stride. A benchmark for what Chambolle is supposed to taste like.

"A notably fresh and ripe nose is composed mostly of various red berries with hints of violet and spice in the background. There is fine intensity and energy present on the lightly stony middle weight flavors that possess a refined mouth feel that also characterizes the moderately firm finale. Good stuff and very Chambolle." —Allen Meadows

Jancis Robinson

"Potentially abstruse stemmy character - I really like the iodine, sappy, Worcester sauce sort of flavour it gives – but it does perhaps come at the expense of fruit. Lots of tannic grip. Stylised and confident." —Richard Hemming MW
