Garesio's Langhe Nebbiolo comes mostly from vines in Serralunga d'Alba, the Barolo commune with some of the oldest soils in the area. That makes it a smart way to taste Serralunga Nebbiolo without paying for, or waiting on, a Barolo. For the 2023, the grapes were hand-selected, left on their skins for about 25 days, then aged about 12 months in large French oak casks. Garesio is a young estate with a good origin story: the family started in 2010 with one Barbera vineyard, made their first few thousand bottles in a friend's cellar, and then bought their Serralunga estate around a historic cellar. Those Serralunga vineyards have been certified organic since 2016, and the family's approach in the vines is to step in as little as possible. The producer suggests serving it at 16°C, so give it a short spell in the fridge.
