Bricco delle Viole is Vajra's crown jewel, from the highest vineyard in the comune of Barolo, reaching 480 meters on the cool ridge above Vergne, which gives it perfume, freshness and decades of aging potential. The 2016 is widely regarded as a near-perfect, benchmark Barolo vintage, combining ripeness with classic structure and electric freshness. This is a wine built for the long haul and still quite young; it will reward patience, but a long decant unlocks plenty now. One of the great bottles in this lineup.

More about G.D. Vajra

G.D. Vajra traces back to 1968, when Aldo Vajra inherited his grandparents' farm in Vergne, the highest village in Barolo. He was a pioneer of organic viticulture in Piedmont—certified in 1971, decades before it became fashionable. His Langhe Nebbiolo showcases the grape at its most approachable, fermented naturally, aged in neutral oak.
