The more generous side of a Barolo legend. Giacomo Conterno's Cascina Francia comes from a single clay-limestone vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, made the traditional way with natural yeasts, long maceration, and Slavonian-cask aging. The 2007 was a warm, riper vintage that produced more openly charming, approachable Barolos, and that suits this bottle now: it offers Conterno's depth and pedigree in a softer, more welcoming frame. Mature and drinking beautifully today. A great chance to taste this iconic address without a long wait.

More about Giacomo Conterno

The Piedmont legend. Giovanni Conterno opened a tavern in 1908, made Barolo for it, and the first Riserva changed everything. His son Giacomo took over in 1934, and the estate's been making world-class Nebbiolo ever since. Monfortino Riserva is aged seven years minimum in huge botti—old school done perfectly.
