The name means 'halfway,' and that is exactly the point: where 'Mon Village' leans on Le Mesnil, 'A Mi-Chemin' splits the difference between two grand crus, blending Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Oger down the middle. Paul Girard inherited vineyards in both — Le Mesnil from his father, Oger from his mother — so this cuvee is a kind of family portrait in a glass. You get the plush florality and riper fruit of Oger married to the rigid structure and salinity of Le Mesnil, an all-Chardonnay Blanc de Blancs that reads classical rather than wild despite the organic, low-intervention farming. Fermented and aged in oak casks and finished Extra Brut, it drinks beautifully now and has the intensity to develop over the next decade. Grower Champagne that genuinely rivals bottles costing far more.
