Most rosé Champagne leans on Pinot Noir. Rosa Délice does the opposite: a Chardonnay-dominant base, colored with a splash of still red wine from Bouzy, which is where the raspberry-and-grenadine tone comes from. It's made by Domaine Méa in Louvois, a Grand Cru village on the Montagne de Reims, where the same family has been growing for five generations across 24 individually harvested plots in two Grand Cru and four Premier Cru villages. Sophie and Franck have led the estate since 2019, farming without chemical fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides and certified HVE. Generous and creamy but with real citrus lift, this is a rosé built for the dinner table — serve it in a white-wine glass rather than a flute.

"The NV Brut Rosa Délice Côte des Noirs Premier Cru is a blend of 70% Chardonnay from Chigny-les-Roses with 20% Pinot Noir white base wine and 10% red Pinot Noir, the latter from a solera of red wine harvested in Bouzy that goes back to 2014. Ripe Red Delicious apple with a floral overtone and crumbly sweet shortcrust pastry announce creaminess and mellowness in equal measure. Further sniffs almost verge on cinnamon-scented Viennoiserie. The palate is unashamedly generous and rich with mellow, creamy Pinot Noir fruit. The mousse is fine; the freshness gets a boost from the slightly nutty phenolic edge, while vivid juiciness makes the mouth water. Yes, this is bold and rich, but it is also measured - a quintessential Pinot that will do better at the table." —Antonio Galloni
