Antonio Galloni

94 points

"The 2022 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru has a primal yet well-defined bouquet, full of energy. It will develop the richness of Les Charmes during the barrel maturation. The palate has an effervescent quality, a lovely reduction veiling this Meursault at the moment with walnut and hazelnut towards the long finish. It will require some years in bottle but will be worth the wait." —Neal Martin

Robert Parker

95 points

"The 2022 Meursault 1er Cru Les Charmes is especially good this year, offering up aromas of citrus oil, lemon curd, pear, white flowers and bread dough framed by a deft touch of youthful reduction. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and suave, with a deep, multidimensional core of fruit, racy acids and chalky structuring extract, it concludes with a penetrating finish." —William Kelley

More about Henri Germain

Jean-François Germain runs seven hectares of Meursault, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Beaune from a cellar so cold it's legendary. His daughter Lucie joined in 2018, and together they're making whites (three-quarters of production) with the kind of tautness and concentration that gets allocations and whispered about in restaurants. Lutte raisonnée, hand-harvested, traditionally vinified—the Burgundy way that actually works.
