This is Chardonnay engineered for the long game. Le Limozin sits directly beneath three of Meursault's most celebrated Premier Crus (Charmes, Genevrières, Poruzots), yet Henri Germain's village-level bottling often displays more structure and depth than those more prestigious neighbors. The secret: 75-year-old vines, low yields, and clay-limestone soils that demand patience. Domaine Henri Germain practices restrained oak aging—barrels used ten times previously, nothing new—allowing the terroir to emerge rather than vanish under vanilla. Cold fermentation ensures slow, brilliant development. The 2023 is newly released and decidedly tight; think of this as a 12-15 year investment. Decant young bottlings 30 minutes before service. In a decade, expect honeyed richness, hazelnut, and mineral austerity. Food pairing: white fish with butter sauces, shellfish, aged Comté.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 89
"The 2023 Meursault Limozin is always a tricky cuvée to read from barrel and this year is no different. It's a little muted at first, only reluctantly opening in the glass. The palate is more expressive with smooth, slightly honeyed citrus fruit tones, but I find the finish needs more acidity (like the Les Chevalières). It's probably more early-drinking than Germain's other cuvées." -Neal Martin

Robert Parker

RP 92
"From lower down the slope, the 2023 Meursault Le Limozin is more exotic, bursting with aromas of honeyed orchard fruit, orange oil and musky peach, followed by a medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered palate that's pure and enveloping, concluding with a saline finish." -William Kelley

Jancis Robinson

JR 16.5
"Cask sample. Mid lemon. Apple, lemon, pear. Medium-bodied, quite expansive. Not excessively mineral. Precise, quality Meursault."
