Herve Murat is a small Burgundy grower in Concoeur, an insider's pick for old-vine fruit and old-school value. This is his Bourgogne Hautes Cotes de Nuits from the Les Herbues parcel, in the cool hills above the Cote de Nuits, the 2012 vintage. 2012 was a small but high-quality year, and at well over a decade this bottle is in a mature, harmonious window. Genuine cool-climate red Burgundy at an honest price; drink now over the next couple of years.

Robert Parker

88 points

"The 2012 Hautes Cotes de Nuits Les Herbues comes a 1.5 hectares parcel of 40-year-old vines. It offers plenty of ripe blackcurrant and raspberry fruit on the nose. The palate has a tannic entry although I think they were accentuated by the coldness of the cellar. There is decent weight and density with a fine chewy finish. Drink 2015-2019." —Neal Martin
