I Pentri is a small, quality-driven estate in Campania’s Benevento region, specializing in organic, site-expressive wines that channel the untamed spirit of southern Italy. Their Kerres bottling focuses on Piedirosso, an ancient native grape often overshadowed by Aglianico, but capable of delivering vivid, soulful reds when handled with care.

The 2020 vintage is a beautiful expression of the variety: lifted aromas of sour cherry, raspberry, dried herbs, and volcanic earth. The palate is bright and energetic, medium-bodied with soft, dusty tannins and a savory, mineral-driven finish. There's a rustic elegance to the wine—unpolished in the best way—that feels deeply connected to the rocky soils and wild landscapes of Campania.

"The 2020 Piedirosso Kerres wafts up with an intense burst of ashen stone, brambly dark red fruits and autumnal spices. This is pure class. It’s silky and polished up front, gaining tension through a core of tart red and black berries and mineral tones as rosy inner florals cascade throughout. There's simply so much going on here. The 2020 mixes tangerine with tart cherries and wild herbs over a bed of grippy tannins, finishing long and palate-staining. Dionisio Meola and Lia Falato founded this Benevento winery in 2002 on terraced hillsides of Monte Taburno—ten hectares of biodynamic fruit fermented wild and bottled unfined, unfiltered. Their son Alessandro helps carry it forward. These wines (Falanghina, Piedirosso) restore credibility to Campania's forgotten native varieties. No chemicals, no shortcuts, just terroir.
