Forty-seven years in bottle — a true museum piece from one of Napa's most historic addresses. Inglenook was founded in 1879 by Gustave Niebaum in Rutherford; by 1978 the estate was in the Heublein corporate era, while Francis Ford Coppola — who had bought the chateau and surrounding vineyards in 1975 — was still decades away from reuniting the full estate with the Inglenook name (he reacquired the brand in 2011). The Limited Cask designation was a special selection bottling from that period. 1978 was a benchmark warm classical Napa vintage. Treat this as a historical document: fragile, fully mature, of interest first to collectors of pre-modern Napa Cabernet history.
