Jean-Luc Jamet's entry Northern Rhone Syrah from the warm, ripe 2015 vintage, which gives this bottling more flesh and fruit than usual. It's 100% Syrah grown on the granite and mica-schist hillsides just outside Cote-Rotie, made in Jamet's fresh, floral signature with earlier picking and wild yeasts. Having split from his brother to build his own domaine, Jamet draws even his everyday wine from the legendary family vines. A generous, friendly Syrah and a steal next to the prices of nearby Cote-Rotie. Drinking beautifully now.

More about Jean-Luc Jamet

The Jamet name means Côte-Rôtie, and Jean-Luc splits from his brother's traditionalism by using less whole-bunch fermentation—about 30%—to emphasize floral elements and vitality. Eight hectares of mixed granite, schist, and sand soils high above Ampuis yield Côte-Rôties that feel fresh and alive.
