A mature Volnay from one of the appellation's most storied premier cru sites, now with two decades of bottle age. Jean-Marc Bouley (today run with son Thomas) farms a tiny parcel of Caillerets, the mid-slope, stony heart of Volnay that gives wines of real finesse. The 2002 vintage was a great one in the Cote de Beaune, and these bottles have had the time to soften and round out. This is library Burgundy ready to drink now, so don't go looking for primary fruit; expect the savory, gentle, leather-and-earth side of aged Pinot Noir. Decant gently and drink up over the next few years.
