J.K. Carriere is a small, high-touch winery in the Willamette Valley known for producing Pinot Noirs that balance intensity with finesse. “Antoinette” is their flagship bottling—named for winemaker Jim Prosser’s grandmother and built to age, this wine is selected from the estate’s best barrels and oldest vines, often with higher whole-cluster inclusion and longer elevage.

The 2021 vintage is a stunner: a cool, balanced growing season that brings clarity and detail. The wine opens with classic red and black cherry, forest floor, and spice box notes, framed by firm tannins and bright acidity. There’s generosity of fruit, but also restraint—it’s Pinot Noir that doesn’t rush to impress, instead unfolding with air and time.

Drink it now with a decant or cellar for 8–15 years to see it evolve. For fans of structured Oregon Pinot or Burgundy drinkers exploring the Willamette Valley, Antoinette 2021 is a thoughtful, age-worthy standout with quiet confidence.

Wine Enthusiast

WE 91
"This lithe and graceful Pinot Noir is made with fruit from a 40-year-old block at Temperance Hill Vineyard. Earthy aromas of loamy soil and oregano flirt with tart boysenberries and bbq short ribs. Raspberry fruit and traces of peach and espresso are nicely balanced with velvety tannins and crisp acidity. Enjoy now until 2032."

What importer Polaner Selections has to say about this wine...

Vineyard
Temperance Hill’s (30-year-old) late-harvested and cooler high-elevation vines deliver old vine complexity with fresh acidity. The five best barrels became this wine. The vines are from the front block east, the oldest at Temperance, and their massive root systems go deep to deliver both high flavor and nuance to the limited yield.
Soil
Ancient, exposed basalt soils
Vinification
Small-lot wild yeast fermentations
Aging
100% barrel aged for 19 months in French oak barrels (one new, three neutral). Bottled unfined and unfiltered
