More about Johnson Family

Johnson Family is a private label from Bowler Wine, the New York importer and distributor, and it exists to put honest California wine on the table at a fair price.

Bowler only bottles a wine under the name when it can find good fruit at the right cost, so the lineup has changed over the years. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have come and gone, and for now it is all Cabernet Sauvignon from Alexander Valley, in northern Sonoma. The fruit comes from certified sustainable vineyards. Yields are kept low, and the wine is aged in French oak and bottled with minimal fining and filtration.

Alexander Valley's warm days ripen Cabernet fully, and it shows: dark fruit, soft tannins, a weeknight steak wine rather than one to lay down.

A concentrated wine, yielding ripe flavors of rhubarb and plum as well as anise and black currant.. Full-bodied and rich on the palate with polished, integrated tannins and a supple, smooth finish. 2023 was an excellent year for Cabernet in Alexander Valley.
