Saint-Aubin sits just up the hill from Puligny and Chassagne, and a generation of insiders has long known its 1er Crus offer some of Burgundy's best value in serious white wine. Joseph Colin — son of Marc Colin, sibling of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey — launched his own small domaine after working at the family estate, and his Saint-Aubin bottlings have quickly become sought after. Les Combes is a 1er Cru on the slope toward Chassagne, classical in proportion and built for tension. The 2018 vintage gave ripe, generous Chardonnay across the Côte de Beaune; here Saint-Aubin's altitude and stony soils keep things lifted and focused. Drinking well now.

Joseph Colin split from the family estate in 2017 and launched his own domaine with 6.5 hectares in Saint-Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachet. His whole-bunch pressing, native yeasts, and minimalist approach yield 21 different cuvées—a young hand redefining what Côte de Beaune can be.
