Antoine Lepetit de la Bigne holds degrees from École Polytechnique, AgroParisTech, and the French national diploma in oenology—scientific credentials that belie his commitment to minimal intervention. He worked with Anne-Claude Leflaive at her École du Vin et des Terroirs before launching La Pierre Ronde in 2021 as a négociant project. Rather than owning vineyards, he curates fruit from a network of organic and biodynamic-certified growers throughout the Côte d'Or. Fermentation and aging happen in a mix of barrels, foudres, and amphorae—whatever best serves each lot. The 2023 Burgundy vintage produced white wines of exceptional quality: ripe, aromatic, opulent without excess. This regional Chardonnay offers entry to Antoine's precision-driven, terroir-focused approach.

Professional Reviews

Antonio Galloni

AG 91
"The 2023 Bourgogne Côte d'Or Chardonnay is the entry-level Chardonnay at Pierre Ronde. Airy, floral and light on its feet, the 2023 is all charm. Soft contours wrap around a core of candied citrus and exotic white flowers, all framed by light a touch of spice from oak. This is lovely." -Antonio Galloni

Focus On: Burgundy

Burgundy has long been the world's most famous wine region. But, underneath all the prestige, this region can be hard to get to know.

While Burgundy offers many great trophies from top producers in well-known villages like Vosne Romanee and Puligny Montrachet, it also offers excellent values to anyone willing to explore beyond the famous names. Our collection– one of the largest in the U.S. – has plenty of both!

From the very basics of Burgundy's regions and wines to the specific terroirs of individual single vineyards--
everything you need to know about Bourgogne is just a click away!
