One of the highest vineyards in all of Cebreros, at 1,050 meters, on an unusual soil mix of slate, clay and granite that you rarely find together in Gredos. The name tells you what is there: the dry-stone corral that once fenced the vineyard, and the gargantilla, the ravine dropping down from the Sierra de Gredos. Vines here are over sixty years old, all Garnacha, farmed organically and dry-farmed, fermented with indigenous yeasts and raised in 500-liter foudres, then bottled without fining or filtration. Las Pedreras was founded in 2020 by winemaker Bárbara Requejo — a Ribera del Duero native not yet thirty, with Haut-Brion, Pierre Peters and Peay on her resume — and Gredos-born restaurateur Guzmán Sánchez, and their wines are the ethereal, high-altitude style that has made this region one of Spain's most exciting. Altitude gives this one more tension and mineral drive than the rest of the range.
