Le Ragnaie, Brunello di Montalcino , 2004 (1.5L)
Le Ragnaie, Brunello di Montalcino , 2004 (1.5L) is backordered and will ship as soon as it is back in stock.
Le Ragnaie begins with a masterclass in patience: a 2004 Brunello di Montalcino in magnum, now 22 years old, representing Riccardo Campinoti’s vision since he acquired the estate in 2002. Across 15.5 organic hectares spanning three distinct Montalcino sub-zones, Campinoti practices traditional winemaking—concrete fermentation, up to 90 days of maceration, 36 months in Slavonian oak, unfiltered—to honor the 2004 vintage, one of Montalcino’s legendary years. This wine embodies the region’s promise: elegance and purity balanced with structure, a Brunello that proves age is not decay but deepening. The magnum format, the legendary vintage year, and two decades of cellar evolution make this an unmissable entry into Le Ragnaie’s world.

Tasting Profile
Gregory Gouges is a very fortunate young man. He has free rein at one of the most historic domains in all of the Cote D'Or. There is a brand new state of the art gravity driven cuverie that his predecessors built after years of careful planning. The family vineyards encompass some of the greatest terroirs in Nuits Saint Georges including the 3.5 hectare Monopole "Clos des Porrets Saint Georges". The parcels are large and the vines are mature and in fantastic health. The style at Gouges has been updated. For years, heavy extraction resulted in tannic wines that took many years to come around. If you ever come across old bottles, they are fantastic. Under Gregory Gouges, the tannins are managed more carefully and the wines are now made in a style with greater emphasis on finesse and fruit purity, allowing the greatness of Gouges' terroir to really shine.
