Premier cru Vosne-Romanee from a great vintage, now mature. Les Suchots sits in the heart of Vosne, sandwiched between famous grand crus, and is prized for the seductive, perfumed, spice-laced character that makes the village legendary. Maison Louis Jadot, one of Burgundy's pillar houses, bottles it in a structured, classic style. The 2005 was an exceptional, age-worthy Burgundy vintage, and after roughly two decades this wine has developed into its mature complexity. Decant and savor over the next several years.

Burghound

"I generally have a slight preference for the Beaux Monts chez Jadot but not in 2005 with the Suchots' more reserved but deeper nose of densely fruit and spice leading to exceptionally concentrated, textured and palate staining flavors that possess a beguiling mouthfeel and positively huge length. This is also very Vosne in underlying character with a good deal more power if, as one would expect, somewhat less elegance. A terrific effort and this too should amply repay an extended cellar snooze."

"Good full red. Pure, subdued nose offers subtly perfumed notes of flowers, exotic spices, smoke and earth. Silky, sweet and highly concentrated in the mouth, with superb energy and length. Strong minerality contributes to a juiciness in the mouth and on the aftertaste. Finishes dry, precise and very long, with resounding minerality." —Stephen Tanzer

"The 2005 Vosne-Romanee Les Suchots gives off scents of black currant, raw meat, violets and truffles. Rather spare in texture but clear and concentrated on the palate, with notes of roasted meat and caramelized parsnip welling up as one works it around, this is refined and long with subtle spices and salty minerality meeting the fruit and meat in the finish, although the richness of the Beaux Monts is missing." —David Schildknecht

"Quite warm and racy on the nose. Lots of zest and power. A very upright wine with good concentration and balance. Savoury and true to the appellation. Admirable persistence."

"Tobacco, spice and richness are all part of the aroma of this intense wine. On the palate, smoky meat partners dark plums and sweet wild strawberry flavors. To finish, fine tannins power through to leave some wood flavors as well as great fruit." —Roger Voss

More about Louis Jadot

Founded in 1859, Jadot is one of Burgundy's great estates and négociants, with 600 acres scattered across the region's best vineyards—Chablis to Moulin-à-Vent. They make hundreds of wines, but each bottle carries the iconic Bacchus emblem and the weight of nearly two centuries of accumulated wisdom. Burgundy without the pretension.
