Tom Lubbe arrived in Roussillon for a Domaine Gauby internship and never left, founding Matassa in 2003 and helping turn this old land of heavy, extracted reds into one of Europe's most quietly radical zones for terroir-driven, low-intervention wine. This is the estate's entry-level Rouge, drawing on traditional Catalan varieties from mountain vineyards above the Mediterranean, farmed organically and biodynamically. Short maceration, neutral barrels, and minimal sulfur make for a wine that's vibrant and full of life, an easy way into the Matassa world. Pre-arrival.
