A specific block within one of Monforte's most prestigious crus, from Barolo royalty. Oddero's Vigna Mondoca is a 1.13-hectare plot inside the vast Bussia MGA, sitting at 380 meters on Miocene sandstone-and-sand soils. Mondoca, loosely translated as the "afternoon-facing site," basks in some of the warmest temperatures in all of Barolo, with thin, poor soils that push Nebbiolo to express pure fruit intensity. The great 2004 vintage handed Oddero classical structure to work with; twenty-one years on, the wine has settled into a mature middle stretch where Monforte power and Mondoca aromatic warmth meet. Drink now and over the next several years for a transparent read on one of Bussia's distinctive sub-parcels.

Super fresh, glowing Barolo from a 200-year legacy. Poderi Oddero dates to the 1700s and released its first bottled Barolo in 1878. Now run by sixth and seventh generations (Mariavittoria and Mariacristina and their children), they're certified organic and own some of Barolo's best crus: Bussia, Brunate, Vignarionda. The wines pop with bright red fruit and mineral finesse—drinkability with authority.
