Vigna Rionda in Serralunga d'Alba is one of Barolo's most revered crus, and Oddero holds every vintage of it in the cellar for a full ten years before releasing a single bottle — so this 2015, arriving from a private cellar, is already well into its life. Their parcel is a single hectare at 300 meters with southern exposure, on the calcareous marl, fine sand and sandstone that gives Serralunga its iron backbone, and production tops out at around 3,000 bottles. The winemaking is unreconstructed: a month on the skins, then 42 months in 30-hectoliter Austrian oak casks, with no small barrels anywhere near it. 2015 was a warm, generous year in the Langhe, which here means the tannins have flesh on them rather than austerity, and the wine is drinking beautifully now with years still ahead of it. Give it an hour or two in a decanter.

Now run by sixth and seventh generations (Mariavittoria and Mariacristina and their children), they're certified organic and own some of Barolo's best crus: Bussia, Brunate, Vignarionda. The wines pop with bright red fruit and mineral finesse—drinkability with authority.
