From the celebrated cru in Verduno—Barolo’s northernmost and most aromatic village—Paolo Scavino’s Monvigliero bottling is all about finesse. While the estate is known for precision and polish, their expression of Monvigliero leans into delicacy and perfume, shaped by white marl soils and a cooler microclimate.

The 2020 vintage opens with soaring aromatics: rose petal, wild strawberry, and orange peel, layered with star anise, mint, and a whisper of cedar. The palate is graceful and lifted, with fine-grained tannins and bright acidity guiding the fruit into a long, floral, mineral-tinged finish. It’s a wine that speaks softly but leaves a lasting impression—Nebbiolo in a more lyrical mode.

Aged in a combination of large casks and smaller barrels, and bottled with care to preserve the site’s inherent elegance, Scavino’s Monvigliero 2020 is already expressive, but will reward 8–15 years in the cellar. Ideal with truffle dishes, game birds, or simply a quiet moment and a decanter.
