A traditional-method Alsatian bubbly that overdelivers for everyday celebrating. Crémant d'Alsace is made the same way as Champagne, with the second fermentation happening in the bottle, and Pierre Sparr's Brut Réserve is a blanc-de-blancs-style cuvée built mostly from Pinot Blanc with a measure of Auxerrois. It spends a minimum of a year on its lees, which lends a gentle creaminess and a fine bead. Dry, crisp and lightly nutty, it's the kind of go-to fizz you can pour as an apéritif, mix into a brunch cocktail, or keep on hand for whenever the mood strikes. Real grower-style sparkling character without the Champagne tariff.

"Based on Auxerrois (20%) and Pinot Blanc (80%) from several vineyards, soils and microclimates that were blended just after the first fermentation, the NV Crémant d'Alsace Brut Réserve offers a very charming fruit on the nose (white jellybabys with some hints of hazelnuts). Disgorged with a dosage of 9.5 grams per liter after 12 to 16 months on the lees for the second fermentation ("méthode traditionelle"), this is a light, round and fruity Crémant of good but not exciting quality." —Stephan Reinhardt
