Antonio Galloni

94 points

"There isn't much of a need to actually taste the 2007 Barbaresco Roncaglie. The bouquet alone is extraordinary. Sweet roses, cherries, hard candy and flowers are woven together in a mid-weight yet generous fabric of unusual elegance. Today the tannins are a bit foreboding, but there is every reason to think this will develop into a hugely rewarding wine in a few years' time. The purity of the fruit is striking, while the wine's balance is compelling. I was struck by the firmness of the Roncaglie; one of the most structured 2007 Barbareschi I tasted." —Antonio Galloni

Wine Enthusiast

91 points

"This is an extremely distinctive and site-specific expression of Barbaresco from the celebrated Roncaglie cru. The wine is characterized by feminine, delicate tones of subtle Indian spice, pressed rose petal, violets and light vanilla or white chocolate. It boasts well-integrated freshness and finely polished tannins."

More about Poderi Colla

Top-flight Barolo from the Colla family's third generation. Tino and Federica founded Poderi Colla in 1994 to continue their family's Piedmont legacy, now farming 25 hectares across three historic estates. They use large Slavonian oak and extended maceration for authenticity, but also know when modern technique helps. The result is Barolo Bussia (especially Dardi Le Rose) that tastes of place and patience.

Tasting Profile

Mature Barbaresco showing complex leather, truffle, and evolved red fruit character. Fine-grained tannins, balanced acidity, and a lingering, elegant finish with secondary flavors.

Flatiron Wines & Spirits has been hand-selling carefully chosen wine and spirits in New York City since 2012, from our shop on the border of the Flatiron and Union Square neighborhoods. We're not the biggest shop in the city, but we'd like to think we're among the most thoughtful: every bottle on our shelves earned its spot, and our team is on the floor — and on the phone, and in your inbox — to help you find what you actually want to drink.

The reviews below come from customers who've shopped with us in store and online. Some are glowing, some are constructive, and we read every one.
