This is a piece of Barbaresco history. Produttori del Barbaresco's Riservas from the early 1970s are legendary, and the 1970 Pora comes from the south-facing slope that yields some of the appellation's most opulent, generous Nebbiolo. At 50-plus years old this is deeply mature wine for the adventurous collector: expect tertiary aromas of dried fruit, leather, tobacco and forest floor rather than primary fruit. From a private collection, so condition and fill will vary bottle to bottle, as you'd hope and expect from something this venerable. Decant gently and drink soon after opening.
