This is Roagna's flagship Barbaresco, a tiny-production single-vineyard wine from old vines that the family ages for years in large neutral casks before release - a monument to traditional, uncompromising Piedmont winemaking. The 2002 is a back-vintage bottle from a private collection, and after two decades it carries the haunting dried-rose, tar, leather and forest-floor complexity that mature Roagna is prized for. This is a wine for the patient and the curious - decant generously, give it plenty of air, and savor a rare, fully evolved expression of Barbaresco.

Luca Roagna is the fifth generation in a family that's been making wine in Barbaresco since the 1850s. His Dolcetto comes from vines over 45 years old, fermented with real patience and aged in neutral oak.
