Mature premier cru Chambolle-Musigny from a revered domaine and a benchmark vintage. Robert Groffier farms old vines, here around 80 years, in Les Sentiers, a premier cru on the northern edge of Chambolle bordering Morey, on argilo-limestone soils that yield the silky, perfumed elegance the village is famous for. The 1999 was one of the great modern Burgundy vintages, generous and structured in equal measure. At over two decades old, this is a fully mature bottle from a celebrated estate, the kind of aged Chambolle that rewards a careful decant and a long evening. Drink over the next few years.
