Clos Salomon is a true Burgundian rarity: a Premier Cru monopole in Givry, farmed by the same family, the du Gardins, since 1632, with a name that traces back some 700 years to Hugues Salomon, who once supplied wine to the Papal court in Avignon. The 6.9-hectare walled vineyard faces east-southeast and is planted entirely to Pinot Noir on sloping ground. This is real, characterful Cote Chalonnaise Burgundy with serious history behind it. The 2015 was a ripe, generous vintage, giving this bottle flesh and warmth, and it's drinking beautifully now with room to evolve.
