Old-vine, oak-framed Burgundy from a Gevrey-Chambertin domaine that brings real power to neighboring Morey-Saint-Denis. Serafin Pere et Fils is known for low yields, concentration, and the deliberate use of new oak, an unapologetically rich, age-worthy style. Les Millandes is one of Morey's finest Premier Crus, sitting just below the grand crus on limestone-rich slopes and giving wines of depth and finesse. This 2010, from a classically structured vintage, is now at a lovely point: deep and savory, with the structure to keep going. A serious red Burgundy drinking in its prime.

"A brooding though ripe red berry fruit and wet stone suffused nose also displays plenty of earth influence. There is fine power and focus to the medium-bodied and, again, overtly muscular flavors that possess fully mature shaping tannins and excellent verve on the robust and very firmly structured finish that delivers impressive persistence along with a hint of rusticity. This large-scaled effort possesses an abundance of buffering extract and it should amply reward 15+ years of cellar time."
