Robert Parker

95 points

"Disgorged in July 2024 with four grams per liter dosage, the 2018 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Chouilly Le Mont-Aigu is the most dramatic wine in the range. Sourced from a 0.25-hectare south-facing parcel planted in 1978, it’s a highly concentrated, flamboyant wine, marked by lower-than-average yields and higher maturity, influenced by le court-noué (grapevine fanleaf virus). The only wine in the estate’s stylistic spectrum that could ever be described as borderline rich, it soars from the glass with a bouquet of candied citrus fruit, pear and pastries. Fuller-bodied and more generous compared to the more saline-laden, tauter La Cocluette and Les Robarts, it combines the power delivered by the site and vines with a chalky extract that brings a sense of freshness, underpinned by vibrant acidity." —Kristaps Karklins
