From the limestone slopes of South Styria, this biodynamically farmed Sauvignon Blanc arrives with crystalline purity and mineral intensity. Kalk und Kreide means limestone and chalk, and the wine is assembled from 55 separate Sauvignon parcels across the Tement family's South Styrian holdings — a deliberate mosaic rather than a single site. The 2025 growing season worked in its favor: late budding spared Styria the spring frost that hit other Austrian regions, a dry August concentrated the fruit, and a rainy September forced picking in stages, yielding wines that are fresh and aromatic with distinctly moderate alcohol — this one lands at 12 percent. Spontaneous fermentation and slow ageing on the lees in stainless steel add quiet breadth while preserving the wine's bright acidity and saline minerality. Tement's Kalk & Kreide is not about exuberance; it's about precision, tension and the elegant expression of place.
