Tenuta delle Terre Nere is one of the benchmark estates on Mount Etna, and its rosato makes the case that Etna's great red grape, Nerello Mascalese, can be just as compelling pressed pale. Marco de Grazia farms high on the volcano's black, mineral-rich soils of pumice, ash and lava, where huge day-to-night temperature swings and a late harvest keep everything vivid and fresh. The aim, in de Grazia's words, is a wine with the body of a white and the soul of a red. The 2025 is bright and bone-dry, more savory and mineral than fruity, with the volcano stamped all over it. Drink it well-chilled with food.
