Yes, the actor - but the wine is the real headline. Sam Neill founded Two Paddocks in Central Otago in 1993 and has spent the last three decades quietly building one of New Zealand's most respected certified-organic Pinot estates. The 2023 estate Pinot is a barrel selection drawn from his four certified-organic vineyards across Bannockburn, Earnscleugh, Alexandra, and Gibbston - each contributing its own dialect of Central Otago: structure from Red Bank, fragrance from Fusilier, lift from Last Chance, perfume from First Paddock. Hand-picked, partially destemmed, wild-fermented, and aged in French oak with a light hand of new wood. The result is a bright, focused, slightly wild Pinot that gives away nothing to its Hollywood pedigree.

Tasting Profile

Vivid red cherry and raspberry over Otago thyme and wild herbs, a hint of smoked charcuterie, and firm but fine tannins. Medium-bodied, bright-acid, with a savory finish and real bones for the cellar.
