Vincent Ledy is a cult figure of the Cote de Nuits who built his domaine from nothing, cutting his teeth at Domaine Lecheneaut, scraping together tiny parcels of old vines and making his first vintages in his garage. He's a master of the 'infusion' style: terrified of new oak, he leans on whole-cluster fermentation, native yeasts and near-zero sulfur, gently steeping the fruit like tea. The Hautes-Cotes de Nuits comes from higher, cooler vineyards above the famous slope and is his most everyday, easygoing bottling, fresh and unforced. The 2012 is well along now, so pour it sooner than later.
