Yvon Metras is often called the unofficial fifth member of Kermit Lynch's Beaujolais "Gang of Four," a minimal-intervention pioneer working in Fleurie since the late 1980s. Alongside his Fleurie he makes a tiny amount of Moulin-a-Vent, the most structured and age-worthy of the Beaujolais crus, following Jules Chauvet's additive-free, unfiltered approach. This is the 2012, a back-vintage bottle from a private cellar with real maturity. Moulin-a-Vent's natural backbone has carried it gracefully into a savory, complex stage, and it is drinking wonderfully now. Cult wine, rare cru, real age, a combination you almost never find.

Stains the palate with gently sweet black raspberry and floral pastille flavors, showing excellent clarity and depth.
