Yvon Metras is often called the unofficial fifth member of Kermit Lynch's Beaujolais "Gang of Four," a minimal-intervention pioneer working in Fleurie since the late 1980s. Beyond his famous Fleurie, he makes a small amount of Moulin-a-Vent, the most structured and long-lived of the Beaujolais crus, in his additive-free, unfiltered style. This is the 2015, from a warm, ripe vintage, now a back-vintage bottle from a private cellar. The generous fruit of the year combined with the cru's natural structure has aged into something deep and savory, and it is drinking beautifully now with more to give. A cult wine, a serious cru, and real maturity all in one bottle.
