A museum piece from one of Piemonte's most legendary classical vintages. Anselma Giacomo is a Serralunga family estate whose central holding in Vigna Rionda places them among a tiny circle of producers working what is widely considered the appellation's most prized cru: south-facing, calcareous-clay slopes that yield Barolo's most powerful and ageworthy expressions. The estate, founded by Felice Anselma and built up by Giacomo in the 1940s, remains thoroughly traditional, with long macerations in cement, aging in Slavonian botti, and an antique manual press still in active use. The 1996 vintage was a benchmark classical year, prized for tension and longevity. Twenty-nine years on, this is a fully resolved collector's bottle in its late prime, the kind of mature Barolo serious cellars are built around.

Tasting Profile
