Guillaume Camus approaches red Burgundy with the same conviction: vineyard excellence over cellar manipulation. This appellation-level red showcases why Guillaume has earned recognition as one of the Côte de Beaune's rising stars. The old vines in the Camus holdings—many planted by Reine Joly in the early 20th century—provide complexity even at the regional level. In the cellar, Guillaume employs 25% new oak maximum and, starting in 2010, began using 15-30% whole cluster fermentation depending on vintage, adding freshness and complexity. The 2023 Bourgogne Rouge is firm and balanced, showing red fruits and earthy minerality characteristic of quality-conscious winemaking in the Côte de Beaune.

"The 2023 Bourgogne Côte d'Or Rouge was the last parcel to be picked and matured in used oak. There is a touch of sur-maturité on the nose that doesn't quite have the brightness of its peers. The palate is fresher on the entry, but there are still some pruney notes on the finish." —Neal Martin

More about Camus-Bruchon

Guillaume Camus is one of the most sure-handed winemakers in the Côte de Beaune, based in Savigny-les-Beaune rather than the famous villages that command premium prices. His Chorey-lès-Beaune 'Le Grand Saussy' is fleshy and complex from the start, and it's one of the great bargains in red Burgundy. Hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, the fruit comes from organically farmed vines, and the result is brilliant wine at genuinely accessible prices. Chorey-lès-Beaune is the last bastion of affordable red Burgundy, and Camus-Bruchon is the reason.
