Named for Guillaume's great-grandmother, who planted many of the family's best vines just after World War I, this village-level Savigny blends fruit from four separate parcels—Dessus Les Vermots, Les Goudelettes, Clos des Pointes, and Aux Champs des Pruniers. The 2023 demonstrates excellent freshness and concentration with power driven by mineral red fruits and good tannic structure. This is classic Savigny in a small format: elegant, mineral-driven, and structured enough for the cellar, yet approachable now for those who like Burgundy with some earth in the glass. The cuvée honors a woman whose foresight gave the domaine much of its character.

"A blend of four lieux-dits, the 2023 Savigny-lès-Beaune Cuvée Reine Joly was vinified with 30% whole cluster. It has a tightly wound bouquet that's a bit bashful at first. The palate is medium-bodied and a little rustic in style with sappy red fruit. It is not complex, but there is decent weight on the finish and just a touch of spice box on the aftertaste. Fine." —Neal Martin

More about Camus-Bruchon

Guillaume Camus is one of the most sure-handed winemakers in the Côte de Beaune, based in Savigny-les-Beaune rather than the famous villages that command premium prices. His Chorey-lès-Beaune 'Le Grand Saussy' is fleshy and complex from the start, and it's one of the great bargains in red Burgundy. Hand-harvested, fermented with indigenous yeasts, the fruit comes from organically farmed vines, and the result is brilliant wine at genuinely accessible prices. Chorey-lès-Beaune is the last bastion of affordable red Burgundy, and Camus-Bruchon is the reason.
