A friendly introduction to Nebbiolo from a traditional Barbaresco estate. De Forville has farmed in the village of Barbaresco since 1860 and makes its wines the classic way, with long aging in large barrels (imported by Neal Rosenthal). Their Langhe Nebbiolo offers the grape's signature perfume and structure in a more approachable, earlier-drinking format than their Barbaresco. Expect rose, red cherry, and tar with fine tannins. More about De Forville

The De Forville family immigrated from Belgium to Piedmont in 1848 and settled in Barbaresco in 1860, where they've been making wine for over 160 years. Gioachino De Forville pioneered Nebbiolo planting in the area. Today, Valter and Paolo Anfosso (fifth generation) run roughly 11 hectares split between Barbaresco and Castagnole Lanze. First estate-bottled in 1940. Now 100,000 bottles annually. This is family wine at its most authentic.
