Classic everyday Piedmont from a traditional Barbaresco estate. De Forville has worked vineyards in the village of Barbaresco since 1860, aging its wines the old-fashioned way in large barrels (imported by Neal Rosenthal). Their Dolcetto d'Alba, grown in the Loreto site, is exactly what Dolcetto should be: dark, plummy, and supple, with soft tannins and just enough grip to keep it interesting. This is a casual, gulpable red built for the dinner table, best enjoyed in its youth.

More about De Forville

The De Forville family immigrated from Belgium to Piedmont in 1848 and settled in Barbaresco in 1860, where they've been making wine for over 160 years. Gioachino De Forville pioneered Nebbiolo planting in the area. Today, Valter and Paolo Anfosso (fifth generation) run roughly 11 hectares split between Barbaresco and Castagnole Lanze. First estate-bottled in 1940. Now 100,000 bottles annually. This is family wine at its most authentic.
