From Mercurey's longtime benchmark family estate, this 2020 red is assembled from roughly ten parcels spread across the appellation, giving it the breadth and balance the village is known for. Agnès Dewé de Launay — eighth generation here, running the domaine since 1996 — favors a hands-off, traditional approach: hand-harvested fruit, gentle extraction, aging that preserves purity over polish. Mercurey rouge sits a notch sturdier than neighboring Rully, and the 2020 vintage delivered concentration without losing freshness. Five years on, this is drinking beautifully — Pinot Noir with old-school grip and the kind of savory complexity that takes time to develop.
