What is this wine?
Francesco Rinaldi & Figli is a historic Barolo producer, founded in 1870 and still family-run today. While Nebbiolo is their flagship, they also craft excellent expressions of traditional Piedmont grapes like Dolcetto. The Roussot is their Dolcetto d’Alba, grown in hillside vineyards around Alba, offering a pure and approachable take on this beloved everyday red.

Why get this wine?
From one of Barolo’s classic houses, this Dolcetto combines pedigree with affordability. It’s a chance to enjoy the craftsmanship of a benchmark Piedmont estate in a lighter, more casual format. For fans of Italian reds, it’s an authentic taste of Piedmont tradition—fresh, food-friendly, and perfect for weeknight meals.

What does this wine taste like?
Medium-bodied with bright blackberry, cherry, and plum fruit, layered with violet, almond, and a touch of earth. Soft tannins and vibrant acidity keep it lively and refreshing.

When should you drink this wine?
Best enjoyed young and fresh, over the next 2–3 years. Pair it with pizza, pasta with tomato sauces, salumi, or simple weeknight fare. Serve slightly cool for maximum refreshment.

Professional Reviews

Robert Parker

RP 87
"I haven't tasted this wine in a few years, and it's nice to come back to the Francesco Rinaldi & Figli 2023 Dolcetto d'Alba Roussot. Heritage rose, lavender sachet and candied cherry are stacked together, giving this wine an especially fragrant and floral side. This 9,000-bottle release ferments in stainless steel for 10 to 15 days and integrates briefly in stainless steel. The idea is to maintain basic freshness and an easy-drinking style over a streamlined mouthfeel. Fruit is sourced from vineyards throughout the village of Barolo, including Cannubi." -Monica Larner
