Vino Nobile pedigree in an easy-drinking, everyday red. Podere Le Berne is a serious Montepulciano estate, and this Rosso is its fresh, crunchy, immediate side, made from 100% Sangiovese, known here as Prugnolo Gentile. The vines sit at 350 meters in Pieve di Cervognano, a cooler, higher corner of the appellation shaped more by the Apennines than the rest, on ancient seabed soils full of stones, shells and iron-rich sand. That elevation and geology give the wine an energy and freshness unusual for the zone. It's naturally fermented with native yeasts and aged briefly in large Slavonian oak. Young, bright, and ready to pour tonight.
