Maison Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy's great names with 165+ years of heritage, founded in 1859. The family legacy reaches to 1794 when ancestors arrived from Belgium and began acquiring Premier and Grand Cru vineyards. Today, Louis Jadot owns approximately 140 acres across 24 prestigious sites. Clos de la Roche is a 16.9-hectare Grand Cru in Morey-Saint-Denis at approximately 250 meters elevation with east-facing exposure. The name references shallow rocky boulders—predominantly limestone with Bajocian marl from the middle Jurassic (160-170 million years ago). Roots struggle through rocky composition to reach moisture, producing wines of tremendous aging potential. The 2010 vintage is considered "perhaps the best for a generation, excluding 2005"—spring frost and rain reduced crop size, concentrating flavors with racy acidity. Complex flavors of violet, anise, red fruit with beautiful balance and supple tannins. Best wines estimated to reach peak 30-35+ years after release. Currently enjoying early maturity with vibrant fruit character.

"This possesses one of the most densely fruited noses in the range with copious spice, earth and game notes accompanying the mostly red and dark berry aromas. There is good power and impressive richness to the enveloping large-scaled flavors that possess a subtle minerality on the firm, balanced and driving finish. I very much like the sense of tension and energy and this should require every bit of 15 years to arrive at its majority."

"The 2010 Clos de la Roche is dark, voluptuous and seductive. Black cherries, mint, spices and graphite flesh out on the mid-palate and finish. The Clos de la Roche boasts gorgeous inner sweetness and perfume, with big, yet fine, tannins that frame the fruit through to the finish. The style is rather immediate, but I don't see anything wrong with that." —Antonio Galloni

More about Louis Jadot

Founded in 1859, Jadot is one of Burgundy's great estates and négociants, with 600 acres scattered across the region's best vineyards—Chablis to Moulin-à-Vent. They make hundreds of wines, but each bottle carries the iconic Bacchus emblem and the weight of nearly two centuries of accumulated wisdom. Burgundy without the pretension.
