Prunier, Cognac Very Old Grand Champagne XO (750ml)

$149.99
Taxes and shipping calculated at checkout.

Prunier’s Very Old Grand Champagne XO is a blend of eaux-de-vie aged 20 to 50 years, sourced solely from the chalky slopes of Grande Champagne.

Notes of menthol, leather, bitter chocolate, nuts, candied fruit and licorice. Well melted wood, fairly fat and precise nose. Nice note of vanilla rancio and tobacco when the glass warms up. Nice roundness.

More about Prunier

Maison Prunier has been making cognac in the town of Cognac since 1769 and is still family-owned, now in the hands of the Prunier-Burnez family's 11th generation. Beyond a classic range of VS, VSOP and XO, Prunier is best known for its vintage cognacs: single-year, single-barrel, cask-strength releases drawn from a library dating to the early 1900s, a category the house revived in 1995. Not a statement brand, just honest, age-worthy cognac to sit with.

Tasting Notes & Food Pairings

Perfect Pairings

A digestif above all: neat, room temperature, in a tulip glass. Serve with dark chocolate and candied orange peel, roasted nuts, aged hard cheeses, or an espresso to close out a long dinner.

Tasting Profile

Menthol, leather, bitter chocolate, nuts, candied fruit, and licorice, with vanilla rancio and tobacco emerging as it warms. The wood is fully melted in - fairly fat and precise on the nose, round and generous on the palate, with a long finish.
